Tammi Biggs was commissioned at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant
Church to serve as a Short-Term Missionary with Covenant World Mission. Having been
approved in October 2009 as a Project Missionary, she will continue with Covenant Merge
Ministries as Trip Facilitator of the Caribbean. She will play an increased role in strengthening
connections between U.S. and Canadian church initiatives in the Caribbean, and provide support
for cooperative mission. Tammi lives in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Tammi spends half of her time in dialog with Covenant churches in the U.S. and Canada to set up
their mission trips, and talks with local church leaders to determine their needs. She trains both
groups on cultural sensitivity and safety, and how to develop a partnership, overseeing the trips
from start to finish.
The other half of Tammi’s time is spent identifying which organizations are
doing ministry in various Caribbean countries, learning about local church initiatives and
connecting US churches with others already doing ministry there.
Tammi felt a pull toward the mission field through a series of mission trips to Ecuador and the
Dominican Republic. She continued to seek God’s will for her life and ministry, and her
dedication to cross-cultural ministry began to take shape after meeting Dale Lusk (Executive
Director of Merge). Her call for missions has continued to be affirmed, and has been further
expanded through her relationship with Dave and Wendy Mark (Regional Coordinators for Latin
America/Caribbean).
Raised in a home where Christ was placed as the head, Tammi accepted Christ around the age of
seven. She continued to grow in Biblical knowledge and was involved in Sunday school and
youth group. However in high school she began developing relationships that did not coincide
with the belief system she had always known. After college through a series of events, Tammi
became aware of the inconsistencies in her life, and pledged to give God all components of her
life, not just the parts that were convenient. Since then, Tammi has sought to continually ask the
question, “What does the Lord require and where does He want me?
"
Tammi received her BS from Central Michigan U (1996, Advertising/Graphic Design, Mount
Pleasant MI), and her MACE from North Park Theological Seminary (2003, Christian
Formation, Chicago IL). Tammi was ordained to Specialized Ministry by the Evangelical
Covenant Church in 2005, and was Minister of Fellowship and Discipleship at Saranac
Community Church from 1999 to June 2006.
Tammi is a member of Saranac Community Church in Saranac, Michigan.
