WEDDINGS/FUNERALS

PLANNDING A WEDDING AT SCC

A Christian wedding ceremony is both a joyous and serious occasion. To prepare the couple for Christian marriage, Saranac Community Church has adopted the following guidelines. You are invited to participate in the planning of your wedding with these guidelines:

1. The couple should contact the minister before they definitely set a wedding date. The minister will then set up an interview to discuss the proposed dates, marriage and wedding. The minister will also refer the couple of the Wedding Coordinator for SCC.

2. Pre-marital counseling is a requirement. This will consist of three 90-minute sessions with the pastor, and two to four 90-minute sessions with a mentoring couple to be designated by the church. The basic purposes of these sessions are 1) for the pastor to come to know the couple 2) for the couple to examine their relationship, and understand God's design for a successful marriage 3) to discuss the joys and challenges of marriage, 4) to plan a Christian ceremony tailored to be especially meaningful for them.

3. As a general rule the pastor of the local church performs all wedding ceremonies held in that church. Certain exceptions are permitted, however, if another minister who has a special relationship to the couple is requested, arrangements can be made through the local pastor. The local pastor's consent is necessary for a wedding to be held at SCC.

FUNERALS

For anyone, committed Christians or not, the death of a loved one brings overwhelming sadness and a painful sense of loss. Yet as Christians, we are able to rejoice in the marvelous hope of Jesus’ resurrection and the promise of eternal life that it brings.

At Saranac Community Church, we seek to minister to grieving families and to honor the life of the departed loved one through sensitive pastoral care, Christian worship, and supportive community.

One of our pastors will meet with the family to provide prayerful ministry and to assist in planning a memorial service that is both worshipful and honoring of the departed.

If requested by the family, our church also provides a luncheon following the service.

All fees will be negotiated through the funeral home of choice.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.’” – John 11:25-26
